Extractions or LED — Which Acne Facial Do I Need?

These treat two different problems, and most people arrive not knowing which one they have. The short version: extractions clear what is already in the pore, LED works on what is causing new breakouts.

For congestion you can see

Blackhead Removal Facial

$135

60 minutes

A full hour of extractions. Steam and a softening prep first, then methodical clearing of blackheads and congestion by hand — the treatment to book when the pores themselves are the problem and nothing you use at home reaches them.

For active breakouts

Acne Treatment with LED Celluma

$100

50 minutes

Cleanse, treat and then blue-light LED, which targets the bacteria involved in breakouts without heat or downtime. This is the one that works on active acne rather than on what is already sitting in the pore.

Book LED treatment

Plenty of people do one of each — a clear-out first, then LED to keep new breakouts down. If that is the plan, the course below works out cheaper than booking singles. If what you have is stubborn, cystic or hormonal acne and you want the whole plan rather than a single facial, start with our acne treatment in Denver page instead.

The course

Acne clears with consistency, not one appointment

A single LED session helps. Six of them, a week or two apart, is what actually changes how your skin behaves — which is why we price them as a course rather than hoping you book six times.

Valid for 365 days from purchase, so a holiday or a busy month does not cost you sessions.

Back & Chest Acne: Why We Use HydraFacial

Hand extractions are precise but slow, and a back is a lot of surface area. Our Back Facial covers maintenance in 30 minutes, but for a first clear-out — or a back and chest together — we use HydraFacial instead. Its vortex tip extracts by suction rather than by hand, so it clears a whole area in one visit rather than a corner of it, and it hydrates as it goes.

Body acne also tends to be more stubborn than facial acne, so the usual plan is a HydraFacial to clear the area, then LED sessions to keep it down.

Double cleanse, steam, exfoliation and a balancing mask. The gentler option if your skin is congested and irritated rather than actively breaking out.

For teenagers

Teen Acne Facials

Teenage skin is not adult skin on a smaller face. It is oilier, it reacts harder to being over-treated, and the person in the chair is usually self-conscious about being there at all.

The Teen Facial is $85 for 45 minutes — gentle double cleanse, steam, careful extractions and a calming mask. No harsh peels, and nothing that leaves the skin red for school the next day. We talk through what we are doing and what to use at home, because most of the result happens between appointments rather than during them.

Parents are welcome to sit in, and plenty do for a first visit. Booking for your son or daughter? There is a page written for you — teen acne facials in Denver — with what happens at the visit, the dermatologist question, and what it costs.

Who Treats You

Acne work here is done by Olga, our aesthetician, and Halina. Both do extractions and LED, and Olga also performs the HydraFacials used for backs and chests. You see the same person each visit, which matters more for acne than for anything else on our menu — a course only works if someone is tracking what your skin did last time.

Questions

Acne Facial FAQs

What does an acne facial actually do?

A deep cleanse, steam to soften the skin, extractions to clear blocked pores by hand, and a calming mask or blue-light LED to finish. The point is to clear the congestion and breakouts that are there now and to reduce what turns into next month's. It is not a cure, and the result builds with regular visits and a simple routine at home.

Do you do extractions, and does it hurt?

Yes — the Blackhead Removal Facial is a full hour of them, $135. Skin is steamed and softened first, which does most of the work; you feel pressure rather than pain. Some redness for a few hours afterwards is normal, and it settles by the next morning.

What is the difference between the extraction facial and the LED acne treatment?

Extractions clear what is already in the pore. The LED Celluma treatment targets the bacteria causing new breakouts. If you have visible blackheads and congestion, start with extractions; if you are actively breaking out, start with LED. Many people do one of each and then continue with the LED course.

Is there any downtime after an acne facial?

Very little. Extractions leave some redness for a few hours, which settles by the next morning; the LED Celluma treatment has no downtime at all, and the Teen Facial is designed to leave nothing visible for school the next day. If you have an event that evening, book LED rather than a full hour of extractions.

How often should I get an acne facial?

While we are getting active breakouts under control, every week or two — that is the spacing the six-session course is built around. Once the skin is clear, most people drop to a maintenance facial every four to six weeks or so, and we will tell you when you are there rather than keep you on a weekly schedule.

How many acne sessions will I need?

Acne responds to consistency, not to any one appointment. Most people see the difference over six sessions spaced a week or two apart, which is why the Acne Clear Course is $500 for six — $83 a session instead of $100. It is valid for 365 days, so there is no pressure to fit them into a fixed window.

Do you treat back and chest acne?

Yes. For maintenance the Back Facial is $90 for 30 minutes. For a large area — a full back, or back and chest together — a HydraFacial is the better tool: its vortex extraction covers ground far faster than hand extractions, so you get a whole area cleared in one visit rather than a corner of it.

Can I combine an acne facial with a HydraFacial?

Yes, and for congested skin it is a good pairing: HydraFacial clears and hydrates a whole area in one pass, and LED sessions afterwards keep new breakouts down. Book them as separate visits a week or two apart rather than on the same day, and we will plan the order — the step-by-step plan on our acne treatment page is exactly this sequence.

Do you treat teenagers?

Yes. The Teen Facial is $85 for 45 minutes — a gentle cleanse, steam, careful extractions and a calming mask, with no harsh peels and nothing that leaves skin red for school. We explain what we are doing and what to use at home, because most of the result happens between appointments.

Is a teen acne facial different from an adult one?

Yes. Teenage skin is oilier and reacts harder to being over-treated, so the Teen Facial uses gentler products, lighter extractions and no peels, and we spend more of the time on what to use at home. Adult acne tends to be more stubborn, so adults usually start with the hour of extractions or the LED course. Parents will find more detail on our teen acne facial page.

Can you help with acne scarring?

That is a different treatment from acne itself. Microdermabrasion ($170) resurfaces marks and uneven texture, and microneedling goes deeper for indented scarring. Both work best once breakouts have settled, so we usually get the acne under control first.
